Are you an anime, or manga, or comic book, or video game lover? Cosplay allows you to dramatically interpret all kinds of characters, ideas or objects from these genres and activities. You could dress up as somebody from a virtual world, you could give a plain object anthropomorphic qualities, you could even switch genders for the day! Be sure to represent your chosen cosplay costume accurately though. Try and adopt some of the qualities and mannerisms of your cosplay character, object or idea. This might take some extra effort, but that's the whole purpose of cosplay-  you need to render the look, the texture, and the purpose of your costume accurately. If you decide to make your own costume, you might need a wig, or a mask  to get your costume spot-on.
