A gangster is a member of a criminal gang who are generally involved in organized crime.  Gangs are located all around the world but the term gangster is associated with American gang members.  The most prominent icon of a gangster is a 1920s gangster who were seen wearing a zoot suit, whether it be pinstripe or not, and a fedora hat.  Black gangster suits were very popular during the 1920s and were worn by many famous gangsters such as Al Capone and Frank Costello.  Al Capone was known for his famous gangster quotes, "They'll never take me alive!," and "You can get much father with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone." Two famous gangs during the 1920s were the Five Point Gang but more well known than this, the Mafia.  Gangster tattoos have also become much more popular in recent years as a way for a gang member to identify with his fellow gang members.
