The massive hit, 'Top Gun' stars Tom Cruise and Anthony Edwards as Maverick and Goose, two fighter plane pilots training at the Navy's Fighter Weapon School. The 1986 action film depicts Maverick's progress through the training, his romance with a female instructor, and overcoming a crisis of confidence following a fatal training accident, in which Goose is killed. Although Maverick loses his confidence and aggressivness when flying, he graduates from Top Gun, and is quickly called into action. Upon returning triumphantly from the mission, Maverick is offered any assignment he chooses, and decides to be a Top Gun instructor.

This huge phenomenon was the highest grossing film on 1986, with the advanced demand such that the film became the best-selling video in the industry's history on pre-orders alone. Bomber jacket sales increased, Ray Ban Aviators sunglasses sales jumped 40%, and Air Force and Navy recruitment were boosted due to the film as well.
